Post office campaign heads to Westminster3.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 19th May 2008 Local MP Tim Farron joined with Greenodd post office postmistress Janet Willis today to deliver 6,800 petition signatures to the Prime Minister at Number 10 today. Mr Farron also delivered signed petitions from Leven Valley and Beetham post office to continue the campaign to keep the branches open. Mr Farron then visited the office of John Hutton MP, the Secretary of State for Business to deliver some bottles of 'Bridie's Brew', the beer brewed specifically as part of the campaign to save Greenodd post office. Tim Farron said: "Today was an important part of the campaign to save these branches, it is clear for everyone to see that in all three cases the post office is an absolutely key part of the community. "Mr Hutton is well aware that Greenodd will move into his constituency at the next General Election and I hope that today we have given him an indication of the strength of feeling in the community about these closures."
