Local MP Tim Farron collected an award on behalf of the Westmorland and Lonsdale Liberal Democrat party on Saturday at the annual Liberal Democrats spring party conference in Liverpool, acknowledging the impressive increase in membership numbers over the past 12 months. The award is handed out each year to the local party who has had the largest increase in the number of members signing up.

Mr Farron was presented the award by the Party President Simon Hughes MP.

Tim Farron said:

"I am delighted that the local party has been acknowledged by the national party in this way. We have worked tremendously hard over the past few years, and I hope we can continue in this way and increase our membership over the next 12 months as well."
