Farron concerned over Crooklands Bridge ahead of tourist season3.00.00pm GMT Wed 23rd Jan 2008 Local MP Tim Farron is pressing Cumbria County Council and British Waterways to ensure that the Crooklands Bridge is fixed in time for the start of the coming tourist season, at which point traffic over the bridge will increase significantly. Mr Farron wrote to Cumbria CC late last year urging them to put in place protective measures which would encourage British Waterways to carry out the necessary repairs. Tim Farron said: "The Crooklands road to and from Milnthorpe and the Kent Estuary is a very important route as it is, and the traffic over the bridge is only going to increase in the coming months. "It is of the utmost importance that Cumbria County Council arrange protective measures to safeguard the bridge so that British Waterways can carry out the repairs, I am urging both parties to ensure that this long running matter is resolved soon."
