Tim Farron MP - Working for Westmorland and Lonsdale

MP on the spot at Walk Cumbria events

10.05.26am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 10th May 2007

Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, will be in the hot seat at two events organised as part of the Walk Cumbria Mission; on Friday night Tim will be facing an audience of young people who have been invited to 'grill' him on issues of Christianity and politics a Question Time session with the Bishops of Penrith and Carlisle this Saturday.

Walk Cumbria is an evangelistic programme running during May, and is supported by the country's Bishops - involving churches of any denomination in Cumbria that would wish to be involved.

Tim Farron said:

"It is important to support Walk Cumbria, as a Christian in public life it is important that I put my head above the parapet so that I can be held to account on what I believe.

"In a modern, secular world it is important that Christians are prepared to speak out."

Ambleside is running a mission until 13th May, which involves teams of volunteers helping the church to present its message in all sorts of different ways in various places including homes, schools, clubs, and pubs.

The Question Time session will take place at Ambleside Parish Centre this Saturday (12th) from 7.30pm.
