Tim Farron MP - Working for Westmorland and Lonsdale

Parliamentary praise for local green action

4.00.00pm GMT Wed 1st Nov 2006

Local MP Tim Farron has tabled a motion in the House of Commons which praises the Ambleside Climate Change Initiative as a beacon of good practice which other local areas should look to replicate. Tim visited Ambleside last Saturday to launch the initiative.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of climate change and international poverty, and looks to persuade people to take practical action to build long term sustainable community initiatives.

Tim Farron said:

"After the publishing of the Stern report this week climate change and the environment ate at the forefront of everyone's minds. The Ambleside Climate Change Initiative is a superb example of a local community taking action of its own accord.

"I have tabled the Motion in the House of Commons in the hope that other Members will sign it and encourage similar initiatives in their areas."
