MP joins Alzheimer's Memory Walk

10.26.13am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 27th Sep 2006

Local MP Tim Farron joined around 60 people last Sunday taking part in a two mile walk along the promenade in Grange-over-Sands to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society.

Speaking from the band stand in Grange, Tim said:

"We are taking part in this walk to raise funds for the excellent work of the Alzheimer's Society, we are also raising awareness of this terrible disease to make sure that it is no longer a taboo and that those who have Alzheimer's - and their carers - are treated with respect and dignity.

"We are also raising awareness of the need for the Government to make sure that drugs that are proven to be effective in helping people with Alzheimer's are made available through the NHS for all those who are able to benefit from them".
