Tim presenting a cheque to the New Holehird charity

Local MP Tim Farron last week presented cheques for over £1,300 to two local charities. The money, raised from Tim's triathlon in the spring, was presented to the New Holehird charity and the North West Cancer Research Fund.

Tim's triathlon saw him run, sail and cycle from the north to the south of his Westmorland & Lonsdale constituency. He ran from Grisedale Tarn below Fairfield to Waterhead near Ambleside, sailed the length of Windermere and then cycled to Humphrey Head Point near Flookburgh.

Speaking after making the presentations, Tim said: "I was delighted to be able to present these two charities with the results of my efforts on the triathlon. Both charities are very close to my heart, and it has been a great honour to give something back in this way."

Tim's triathlon is rapidly becoming an annual event. Asked whether we'd see him repeating the event next year, he said: "It's actually a really enjoyable day, despite the hard work! It would be great to do it again for a third year."
