South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has pledged to do his bit for the British Armed Forces family, after meeting last week with a delegation from The Royal British Legion to get behind the charity's call for general election candidates of all parties to support the whole Armed Forces family. Mr Farron also discussed the Legion's manifesto and the changes that it is calling for.

Pensioners in the Milnthorpe, Kirkby Lonsdale, Burton and Holme areas will receive the cold weather payments they are entitled to this winter after pressure from local MP Tim Farron led the Department of Work and Pensions to change the weather station they use for calculating payments in the LA6 and LA7 postcode areas.

Commenting on today's crucial meeting of the board of governors at the University of Cumbria, South Lakes MP Tim Farron, who has led the campaign to save Ambleside Campus said: "I have mixed feelings after the outcome of the university board meeting. We've won a partial victory. Outdoor studies students will now be able to stay in Ambleside - which is good news for them and for the whole of Ambleside.
