South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called on the Vice-Chancellor of Cumbria University to back the bid by Kendal College to take over Further Education provision at the Newton Rigg campus creating a single, distinctive college for the South Lakes and Eden with its HQ in Kendal.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today congratulated Cumbria Police for their success in the HM Inspectorate of Constabulary's national review, but warned that all the good work could be put at risk because of proposed budget cuts and the removal of 30 police officers from the beat.
MP Tim Farron is launching a campaign to support Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. During March the charity Ovarian Cancer Action is encouraging women and their GPs to be aware of the symptoms of the disease.

MP Tim Farron tonight will be chairing a meeting of police, council officials and local residents in Sedbergh to allow the public to ask questions to the police and local authorities about the new plans recently agreed to prevent a repeat of last year's anti-social behaviour by a minority of travellers in the weeks preceding Appleby Horse Fair.
Farron hands petition to Downing Street calling for more carer support

South Lakeland MP Tim Farron joined a group of carers from 'Carers Poverty Alliance' to hand in a 700-strong petition to Downing Street yesterday, urging the Government to provide more financial help to carers. The handing in of the petition was also supported by a large group of carers who had travelled from all over the country to make their voice heard by the Prime Minister.
